Before You Begin

This guide is intended for technicians and users familiar with servicing copier equipment. A hammer, slim metal rod and flat screwdriver are required for the removal and installation procedure. Follow the illustrated instructions carefully and ensure the machine is switched off before servicing.

Drum Component Removal Procedure

Steps 1–4: Remove the Drum Unit, Side Caps and Bearing

1. Remove the OEM drum unit from the machine.
2. Dislodge the side caps from both ends of the drum unit using a flat screwdriver.
3. With the side caps removed, the OPC drum gears and bearings are exposed.
4. Remove the bearing from the bottom end of the drum by gently knocking it with a hammer.

Steps 5–6: Remove the Drum Gear, Bearing and Inner Gears

5. Set aside the bearing and bottom drum gear for reinstallation onto the new compatible OPC drum.
6. Insert the metal rod into the drum and gently hammer on the rod to remove the inner gears from the other end of the drum. Once the inner gears have been removed, the drum gear and bearing can be easily dislodged from the drum.

Steps 7–8: Remove the Silencers and Prepare for Reinstallation

7. Gently tap the silencers with the metal rod to remove them from the drum.
8. Clean all drum accessories with water and reinstall them onto a new compatible OPC drum.
