DC-240/250 CYM OPC Drum Replacement Guide

This technical support guide provides step-by-step instructions for replacing the CYM OPC drum on the Xerox DocuColor 240 and Xerox DocuColor 250.

The complete replacement procedure consists of 11 illustrated steps covering removal of the drum unit and side caps, replacement of the OPC drum and drum chip, and reassembly of the drum unit.

Before You Begin

This guide is intended for technicians and users familiar with servicing copier equipment. Follow the illustrated instructions carefully and ensure the machine is switched off before servicing.

OPC Drum Replacement Procedure

Steps 1–3: Remove the Drum Unit and Side Caps

1. Remove the drum unit from the machine.
2. Remove one screw and detach the side cap from one end of the unit.
3. Unscrew and remove the side cap from the other end. Remove the old chip from the side cap.

Steps 4–6: Remove the Existing OPC Drum

4. Press gently on the clips at both ends and pull to remove both end plates from the drum unit.
5. Lift the OPC drum from the drum unit. Once the drum is removed, the bearings at both ends can be removed easily.
6. Clean the bearings before reinstalling them onto the new OPC drum.

Steps 7–9: Install the New OPC Drum and Chip

7. Attach the end plates on both sides using the “click-on” action.
8. Install the new drum chip as shown in the illustrated guide.
9. Attach the side cap on one end.

Steps 10–11: Complete the Reassembly

10. Attach the side cap on the other end with a screw.
11. Rotate the OPC drum to ensure that it is installed properly. A correctly installed OPC drum should rotate easily. Apply Magworks Drum Padding Powder to the surface of the OPC drum.

The drum unit is now ready for use.

It is recommended to use Magworks Drum Padding Powder with every replacement of the OPC drum.
